About us
Art as a way into reading, writing and community
Tia's Art Studio was founded by Tianisha Torres, M.Ed., an educator, literacy specialist, art and wellness advocate, and artist based in Lawrence. We use art and storytelling to build literacy, support social-emotional growth and bring people together.
Whether it's a birthday at our studio or a program at your library, we create welcoming, inclusive experiences that meet people where they are and leave room for creativity, curiosity and self-expression.

Private Paint Parties · At our studio
Bring your people. We'll bring the paint.
Celebrate a birthday, shower, girls' night or family gathering at our studio in Lawrence. We set up, guide every step, and everyone goes home with their own painting. No experience needed, and all ages are welcome.

Signature Party
Abstract Self-Portraits
Our signature party. Using bold primary colors and lines, each guest paints an abstract portrait of themselves. No two look alike, and nobody needs to know how to draw.
Prefer something different? Choose a simple landscape instead, like a sunset, beach or snowy forest. No experience needed.

Custom Party
Your Idea, Painted
Have something special in mind? Share your idea, like a meaningful place or a theme for a shower or team event, and we'll design an original painting just for your group, then guide everyone through it step by step.

Add-on for any party
Add Journaling
Guests decorate their own journal, write to fun prompts, and share their stories with the group. Everyone takes their journal home along with their painting. Ask us for add-on pricing.

Good to know
- A $50 non-refundable deposit reserves your date. It's applied to your total.
- All ages are welcome. Younger artists may need a grown-up helper.

We bring guided painting and journaling programs to libraries, schools, senior centers and community groups. All materials are included, and every program can be built around a theme, a book, or your goals.

A read-aloud followed by a guided painting inspired by the story. Builds vocabulary, listening and a love of books.

- An additional travel fee applies beyond 20 miles.
